Lately...the garden has been in full swing. Beans, peas, cukes, tomatoes, lettuce, herbs, etc. Here is our average weekly cucumber yield.
We've been making fridge pickes, cucumber salad, and giving some away when we can't eat them all. We have made friends with an older couple, Walt and Sharon, who drive by weekly to check on our garden and chat. We went to their house too, and boy do we have a ways to go with the gardening. I should've snapped pictures. Older couples around here have root cellars and grow their yearly supply of potato and onions. They make their own sauerkraut out of harvested cabbage, and can their own relish, pickes, tomatoes and everything else. It is seriously impressive the things they accomplish.
Mister Baby has been doing a lot of this:
He 's been very tired lately since he has daily visitors. The new neighbor kids come over almost daily to see if he can play. If they don't, he waits until our next door neighbors come out for a campfire, then he goes to hang out with them. He is the most popular dog in the neighborhood. We have people who walk by our house to go to work who know him by name and stop to see him. The other day he was inside and saw one of his friends walking by so he started whining to go out to see her. I've also been trying out the new camera on chops.
I have been documenting my favorite parts of his face. This is one.
Finally, and most exciting we had our first visitors since Thanksgiving. Eric's sister and her boyfried came up for a week or so and it was a blast! We encountered danger in Medora.
We worked in the steadily growing garden, and ate amazing food cooked by Gus.
We also gave Chops a lot of attention when he cued us he wanted some (like this). I think he is getting a little spoiled. Oh, and there are the new floors too.
"Will you rubby my tubby?"
It was awesome to have visitors. I wish we had more, more often. We have finished putting up crown moulding and are going on VACATION! Ohio, PA here we come.
