We accomplished another big step towards a completed kitchen by adding a new 36 inch exterior door where our 32 inch drafty wood excuse for a door (especially in winter) used to be. We had to widen the doorway and trim the exterior siding and open and close the door about a thousand times to make sure it closes and opens correctly. You have to make sure that the new is level on thresh hold and then level up/down in/out and side to side on one side of the door. Once you screw that part of the door you begin opening and closing the door while you shim, level, and screw and unscrew the other side of the door until the fit is right. Sound complicated? Yeah, because it is. Luckily Eric is a master handyman. Oh, forgot one thing. Make sure your opening is bigger than the door so you have extra space to adjust. We made that mistake on a previous door. If you need a step by step tutorial on how to put a door in I am not the one to give it to you. Eric may need to start writing some blogs. I am the assistant in all the projects. Most of the time my job is to find the tape measure or utility knife. I am really good at what I do.
Got a door knob and lock yet??
